Gatlinburg Motorcycle Run
My friends all said, "You have to ride the mountains, including Deal's Gap, in late October to Early November to see the leaves change". Well, first and foremost, the Smoky Mountains were as beautiful as ever, but now I know why the leaves turn yellow and fall to the ground,
It's COLD!
We awoke to 35 degrees in the mornings. My friends Art and Lynn actually stayed in thier tent next to my "Heated" coach. We invited them to stay with us, but they are "Hardcore" bikers and didn't need our hospitality. They did borrow a couple of blankets that Cathy had offered them (Art had to wait until Lynn was not looking). We rode about 200-250 miles a day for 3 days. I have spent 2-3 weeks a year in Gatlinburg in the past 4 years, but this was the first time I was not there in August, a much friendlier time as far as I am concerned.
I am already planning a 5 day trip in March/April of 2012.

All and all it was a great time, let's face it, cruising the mountains and Deal's Gap on a Harley-Davidson ANYTIME is fine.

Deer are everywhere in the park. They know you can't hunt there, that is why they don't even look up when you approach them.
