Our Summer Trip 2010
I take my Daughter "Madison Rose" (10) on a "Maddie and Daddy" Trip Every Year.
In 2010 we left on July 23rd and returned August 17th. We left on Friday and our first stop was the YOGI BEAR CAMPGROUND in Robert, LA (New Orleans).
We try to spend as much time at YOGI BEAR PARKS because they focus on kids and Maddie always finds plenty of friends to play with. We spent Saturday and Sunday before leaving Monday morning and heading out to the LAZY L&L CAMPGROUND in New Braunfels, TX (San Antonio). We got up on Tuesday and went to SIX FLAGS FIESTA, TX for Roller Coasters and Water Park. Wednesday was SHLITTERBAHN, the Second Largest Waterpark in the US. I saw it while watching the Travel Chanel and decided it would be a good destination. It is the reason we headed in this direction. Thursday we headed to YOGI ON THE LAKE in
Pelahtchie, MS (Vicksburg). We stayed through the weekend and visited the Civil War "Stuff" surrounding this historical town on the Mississippi River. Next was
the GRACELAND RV PARK for ELVIS WEEK. When I originally called to make reservations I just wanted to see Graceland and spend a couple of days in the park.
The girl kinda laughed and said, "We don't have anything for that week. We have been booked for months". I asked "Why" and she explained about "Elvis Week".
I told her to take my name and if anything came up to let me know. Much to my surprise she called me back about 2 months later and told me she had a cancellation.
It was for Monday thru Thursday, but we would have to leave before the finale on the weekend. I said I would take anything they had. We had a BLAST.
We had to leave on Thursday, but Maddie was OK because she knew we were heading to our friends campground, YOGI BEAR GATLINBURG. We have spent weeks and weeks at this campground, owned by our good friends the "Landry's", over a 5 year period. Dave is the dad and ring leader. After [almost] a week
we had to leave and head to our last stop, CHATTANOOGA KOA. We had to rent a car for a day because of the weather. I told Maddie I would take her to the TENNESSEE AQUARIUM and the rain was going to keep us from taking the motorcycle. They picked us up at the campground and took us to the
Enterprise Rent a Car, about 20 minutes away, and TWO BLOCKS from the Tennessee Aquarium. I asked if we could just pay for the ride,
but they said I had to rent a car for a day. We stayed 2 nights, saw an amazing Tennessee Aquarium, and headed home.........
